Can You Play Online Poker in Missouri?
There is currently no legislation permitting online poker in the state.
Current Missouri Gambling Laws
Casino gambling has a bit of a foothold in Missouri, but in general, the state doesn't appear to have a particularly favorable outlook on gambling. That means that while progress is possible, it isn't particularly likely at this juncture.
The former riverboat gambling hotbed welcomed casinos back to the state after a 1992 amendment passed, leading to the 1994 return of legal gambling to the state. However, casino gambling hasn't been particularly prevalent, with only population centers in St. Louis and Kansas City supporting multiple of the state's 13 casinos.
The Heartland Poker Tour has established a solid player base in both of those cities, so there's a somewhat decent poker culture in place. Still, it doesn't seem likely or reasonable to expect Missouri to support online poker, and nothing major has really changed in the intervening years.
Missouri law never truly addressed daily fantasy sports, leaving the state like others as a gray area with regard to DFS. More telling, the sports betting legislation mania sweeping through the nation never got to Missouri. A number of bills have been introduced but there's been no concrete momentum.
If sports betting, with a far bigger market than online poker, can't get any traction, there's zero hope for online poker at the moment.
