Zach Mullennix Captures Second Career Ring with Event #3: $1,125 No-Limit Holdem Victory
The PokerNews Live Reporting Team is at Floridas Seminole Coconut Creek to live report action from both the $2,200 High Roller and $1,700 Main Event, but is just one of a dozen gold ring events at the stop. As such, we thought wed profile some of the preliminary tournaments and those who struck it big.
In Event #3: $1,125 No-Limit Holdem, 89 entrants created a $89,000 prize pool that was paid out to the top 14 players. Among those to cash but fall short of the final table were Richard Rice (10th - $1,877), Jason Wandling (11th - $1,877), Stephen Hung (12th - $1,877), Alan Kraut (13th - $1,664), and Scott Harwood (14th - $1,664).
In the end, Zach Mullennix bested Ryan Van Sanford in heads-up play to win the title and $26,412 first-place prize. It marked the second career gold ring for Mullennix.
Its really cool. I wasnt even sure if I was going to play this event and I decided it to fire it. Im really lucky to get the win, Mullennix said after his victory.
He continued: It was really a couple of big hands, particularly against Ryan (Van Sanford) where I just had good hands. He was in a position where he was going to be bluffing a lot, and I was able to put chips in the pot and win the hand.
