David Brookshire Captures Second Gold Ring w/ Event #7: $400 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Victory
The PokerNews Live Reporting Team is at Thunder Valley to live report action from both the $1,700 Main Event and $3,250 High Roller, but those are just a couple of the dozen gold ring events at the stop. As such, we thought wed profile some of the preliminary tournaments and those who struck it big.
In Event #7: $400 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better, 82 entrants created a $30,000 prize pool that was paid out to the top 13 players. Among those to cash but fall short of making the final table were Icha Ux (9th - $716), Jeff Hart (10th - $715), Allen Kessler (11th - $666), Danny Woolard (12th - $666), and Erik Eichmann (13th - $605).
In the end, it was David Brookshire besting Ho Lee in heads-up play to win the title for $9,084 and his second career gold ring.
I feel really good. I feel like this is just the beginning of my career, said Brookshire. Ive been playing professionally for three years, I got 14 or 15 wins now. I gotta give credit to Mike Matusow any time I win a tournament because if he didnt teach me the stuff he taught me, and he wasnt a friend and a mentor to me, Id never be having in any of these wins.
He continued: Ive been studying No-Limit for years and Ive always thought there is a huge mathematical edge and less variance in the mixed games compared to no-limit. Theres just not enough mixed tournaments to play full-time schedule so I definitely have to play no limit too.
