Davis Bags Substantial Lead on Day 1b Field in MSPT Meskwaki Main Event
Day 1b of the MSPT Meskwaki Main Event has come to a close. The day drew 233 entries and play ended with 30 remaining. Meaning that in total the Main Event attracted 409 entries and 50 survived to reach Day 2.
Topping all players when Day 1b ended was Marquez Davis, who finished with a huge stack of 460,000, which ended up being a full 30% more than any other Day 1b competitor. He gathered chips throughout the day and really caught fire late including when he gained a boost of at least 100,000 in one of the last hands of the day when he called his opponent's all in and had the better kicker to go with top pair.
Some distance behind Davis in second to end the day was Kevin Berthelsen with 315,000; Bradley Rohrer closely followed him with 314,000 in third.
A few well-known players were among the 30 who survived the action on Day 1b to advance to Day 2 including Ryan Phan (243,000), current MSPT Player of the Year points leader Mike Shin (115,500), and Adam Friedman (45,000).
The vast majority who entered the day did not make it to the finish line including Aaron Massey, Ralph Massey, Pratap Golla and Jon Hanner.
Day 2 is next up for the Main Event. It will be a bright and early morning for the players, as it will commence at 11 a.m. local time as the remaining 50 will be looking to make a deep run. PokerNews will provide all the coverage so make sure to tune in less than 12 hours for Day 2 coverage.
