Thornton Takes a Big Chunk From Claunch in Two Hands
Level 6
: 200/500, 500 ante
Hand #1:
With 45,000 already in the pot, John Thornton checked a board from the small blind, and Gerald Claunch bet 25,000 from early position. Thornton tanked for a minute before making the call, and after Claunch revealed that his
had been counterfeited, Thornton tabled
for a nut flush draw that ended up with aces-up, and Thornton took down the monster pot.
Hand #2:
Claunch raised to 2,300 from under the gun, and Thornton called on the button.
Claunch bet 3,300 on the flop, and Thornton called.
Both players checked the turn, and Claunch quickly checked the
river. Thornton cut out a bet, and Claunch folded before the chips hit the felt.
