Sunday Briefing: "Junglemandan" Wins $276K at partypoker, Schemion Wins Sunday Supersonic

There were big scores galore in the online poker world on Aug. 11 thanks in part the partypoker POWERFEST signing off with some huge events, including a $10,300 buy-in with $1 million guaranteed.

German star Ole Schemion was one of the big winners at PokerStars, triumphing in the $1,050 Sunday Supersonic. Let��s take a look at some of the most significant results from Aug. 11 in this week��s Sunday Briefing.

Powerfest 73-SHR: $1M Gtd at partypoker

The $10,300 buy-in Super High Roller POWERFEST event at partypoker drew in a crowd of 131 players to ensure the $1 million guarantee was surpassed by more than $300,000. Only the top 20 players got their hands on some prize money, with everyone at the final table guaranteed almost $40,000.

��Kroat..�� was the first player to bust at the final table and secured $39,300 doing so. They were followed to the rail by ��DasIstMirWurst�� who collected $49,518 and then by ��AndreyBolkonsky�� and ��Tigerbluff�� who won $62,225 and $78,600.

It was ��MARL0�� who banked the first six-figure prize, winning $111,350 for their fourth-place exit. A cool $157,200 was awarded to ��Amadeus_Mozart�� for their third-place finish which set up a heads-up clash between ��PayAndPlay�� and ��Junglemandan.��

The last standing pair decided to strike a seal that saw PayAndPlay finish second for $240,807 and Junglemandan be crowned champion, a finish worth $276,511.

Powerfest Phased #05-HR: $750K Gtd at partypoker

Another POWERFEST event that ended in a heads-up deal was the $1,050 buy-in Phased event. Players could either play their way into this final via lower buy-in Phase 1 tournaments or buy in direct for $1,050.

Whatever way they made it to the final, 863-players were in it and vying for a share of the $911,500 prize pool. Like the $10,300 Super High Roller we just mentioned, this tournament ended in a heads-up chop. ��Hendimann69�� is the name that goes into the history books, their first-place being worth $148,656 with ��Chasse-Neige�� consoling themselves with a $124,429 runner-up prize.

Others at the eight-handed final table included ��RuiNF�� (8th - $12,669), ��Soothsayer�� (7th - $18,230), ��GandaGajo�� (6th - $25,795), ��aintnofish�� (5th - $36,004), ��showers�� (4th - $51,0440), and ��kgroqigmqtbmqom�� (3rd - $75,745).

$215 Sunday Million at PokerStars

This weekend��s Sunday Million at PokerStars was another big event with 11,881 players creating a $1,188,100 prize pool that was distributed among the top 2,150 finishers. Like the two big partypoker POWERFEST events, the Sunday Million ended in a deal, this time three players sharing more than $260,000.

With only three players remaining, ��volldemar88��, ��Benfica10�� and Sander ��S.totuli�� Totuli paused the tournament clock, and discussions of a deal took place. Those discussions went well, and everyone locked up more than $80,000 plus they had the chance to get their hands on another $20,000 if they went on to be the last player standing.

Third-place was decided when Russia��s volldemar ran out of steam. Thanks to the deal, the Russian padded their bankroll with $80,391. The remaining two players then went toe-to-toe for the additional $20,000 prize.

It was Brazil��s Sander ��S.totuli�� Totuli who locked up that extra money after he sent Benfica10 to the rail in second place. Benfica10 had to make do with the $81,929 runner-up score, with the champion netting $107,200.

$1,050 Sunday Supersonic at PokerStars

German superstar Ole ��wizowizo�� Schemion added another major online title and $35,208 to his name as he came out on top of the 171-strong crowd in the $1,050 Sunday Supersonic event at PokerStars.

Any of the six finalists would have been a worthy champion, but the hyper-turbo structure leaves a lot to Lady Luck. Former European Poker Tour champion Aliaksei ��ale6ka�� Boika fell in sixth place for $8,993 and was joined on the rail by Dominik ��Bounatirou�� Nitsche and Pascal ��Paffchen�� Hartmann who won $11,816 and $15,524 respectively.

��APonakov�� of Latvia was the penultimate casualty of the final table, busting in third-place for $20,397. Schemion and ��bartek901�� was the heads-up duo, and it was Schemion who would ultimately emerge victoriously and with $35,208 extra in his bankroll. Bartek901 collected $26,798 for their second-place finish.

ChampionChips Main Event at 888poker

Over at 888poker, the ChampionChips series ended in style with a $33 buy-in Main Event that saw its guarantee smashed when 2,778 players created a $83,340 prize pool.

ChampionChips events are 888poker��s low-stakes festival, and they are always well-received. This Main Event paid out the top 252 finishers, and it was ��germanbarros�� of Argentina who locked up the biggest prize, namely $13,168 and the title of champion.

The Argentinian defeated Austria��s ��IamYourDille�� heads-up to resign the runner-up to $9,884, which is still a great return on a $33 investment.

Earlier at the final table, ��MeuPdeOculos�� busted in ninth-place and banked $975, narrowly missing out on a four-figure prize. One by one the remaining players lost their stacks and headed to the sidelines, they were ��dejan96�� (8th - $1,575), ��caioborges95�� (7th - $2,350), ��epik841911�� (6th - $3,150), ��PokerTilt89�� (5th - $3,950), ��Shyam_M�� (4th - $5,375), and ��balamytkane�� (3rd - $7,158)

$100,000 Sunday Mega Deep at 888poker

��GandaCu88�� of Malta was the last player standing in the $100,000 Sunday Mega Deep this weekend, turning $215 into a cool $19,350.

The Malta-based grinder was one of three players to walk away with a five-figure prize. Third-place finisher ��lucasrouck�� was one of them, the Brazilian scooping $11,000. ��p1n1she45�� of Mexico, the tournament��s runner-up, was the other; they won $14,500.

Sunday Blade 10K at Natural8

Germany��s ��Chun Lei Zhou�� won a Sunday Blade and cashed in another this weekend for a profitable end to the week. Their victory came in the Sunday Blade $10K that saw 29 players fight it out for a share of $281,300.

Natural8 regular ��HE22�� was the first player to cash. They busted in fourth place for $29,357 before being joined on the sidelines by ��emb3zzle�� of India whose third-place finish was worth $47,776.

No deal was struck despite there being a near $50,000 difference between first and second place. This meant ��MiMosa1�� of Finland��s runner-up finish was worth $77,719 with Chun Lei Zhou scooping $126,456 for their victory.

Sunday Blade $5K at Natural8

After winning the Sunday Blade $10K, Chun Lei Zhou went on to finish fifth in the Sunday Blade $5K for an additional $12,571 for what should have been a very productive weekend.

Another player enjoying the Sunday Blade $5K was ��viagraboy99999�� who was the last player standing, an accolade worth a cool $85,316. They defeated ��NOMAMES�� of Mexico heads-up to scoop the largest prize and leave the second-place finisher to collect $50,409.

Sandwiched between these results was the fourth-place finish of Brazil��s ��baita�� ($19,972) and the exit of ��Stevie444�� ($31,730).
