Sunday Briefing: Brazils 'BrunoBoucas' Wins Sunday Million
The Brazilian national team may have crashed out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia at the quarter-finals stage, but BrunoBoucas has plenty to celebrate, thanks to triumphing in this weekends PokerStars Sunday Million, a result worth a cool $117,883 after a four-way chop.

It didnt take long for the first player to bust from the final table, that dubious honor going to Chinas Peng HY. Kley opened with a 446,000 raise and then called when Peng HY three-bet jammed for 1.61 million with what turned out to be a pair of queens. Kley showed ace-jack of hearts, turned a Broadway straight and Peng HY became the first casualty of the nine-handed final table.
BrunoBoucas then sent fellow Brazilian Warleyruno to the sidelines in a cooler of a hand. A min-raise from BrunoBoucas under the gun was met with a three-bet all-in from WarleyBruno in the small blind and an instant call. It was ace-king for WarleyBruno but pocket aces for BrunoBoucas. The rockets were not shot down and WarleyBruno busted.
Argentinas tinchoarce lost a huge flip with ace-king versus pocket jacks and was in survival mode. They managed to double their stack after their ace-jack flopped a jack to beat the dominating ace-queen of reidir but their world came tumbling down when they pushed all-in with king-queen and were called by reidir holding ace-five of hearts. Reidir flopped two hearts and turned the flush to send tinchoarce home in seventh place.
Kley was the next player to bust, with red jacks losing to the eight-seven of clubs of filusPL after the latter improved to a nine-high straight, before eight-seven came back to haunt filusPL in a massive pot. Holding top pair, top kicker, filusPL lost when their opponent improved to a full house with eight-seven.
A few hands later, filusPL called all-in from the big blind with seven-trey and lost to the queen-trey of reidir.
That left only four players at the final table and they all agreed to discuss a deal for the remaining prize pool. A deal was agreed upon almost immediately, so play resumed.
Five minutes later, 2late4play committed their 6.75 million stack from the button with a suited queen-ten and BrunoBoucas called in the big blind with pocket sixes. 2late4play flopped an open-ended straight draw that never came in, and the player count was reduced by one.
Third-place went to reidir, who busted at the hands of fellow Brazilian BrunoBoucas. Reidirs nine-eight of diamonds flopped an open-ended straight draw against BrunoBoucas top pair, made with ace-king, but the straight never arrived and reidir was out.
BrunoBoucas held a near four-to-one chip advantage over Denmarks Palsgaard1 going into heads up and it proved too much of a gap for the Dane to bridge, eventually busting with top pair against the flopped two pair of BrunoBoucas, this weeks Sunday Million champion.
